Territory

the Montecucco territory

Montecucco is located between the Tuscan Maremma
and the slopes of Mount Amiata

Montecucco is located between the Maremma region and the slopes of Mount Amiata, in a unique position between sea and mountains that defines its distinctive character.

The proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea, combined with the natural protection of Mount Amiata, creates an ideal microclimate for viticulture, characterized by constant ventilation, intense sunlight, warm and dry summers and significant day-night temperature variations.

Vineyards are situated between 150 and 600 meters above sea level on predominantly marly and sandstone soils, often of volcanic origin moving towards North-East. These conditions ensure balanced vine growth and allow grapes to reach optimal phenolic ripeness while maintaining freshness and acidity.

The territory is also distinguished by extraordinary biodiversity. Forests, olive groves, Mediterranean scrub and pastures alternate with vineyards and well-preserved medieval villages, creating a landscape that remains authentic and unspoiled, far from mass tourism – and for this reason more attractive – yet increasingly appreciated by international visitors.
