The red tuscany wine: Montecucco Doc
The Montecucco DOC, situated at the North-East borders of the Province of Grosseto, embraces the territory of the Communes of Arcidosso, Campagnatico, Castel del Piano, Cinigiano, Civitella Paganico, Roccalbegna and Seggiano and is easily reachable from the major Tuscan communication routes.
The territory, highly dedicated to the production of sangiovese grapes, enjoys extremely favourable climate conditions; the proximity with the Tyrrhenian Sea, only a few kilometres as the crow flies, contrasts with the presence behind of the now extinct volcano Amiata. These elements guarantee a suitable ventilation, a right water supply during the winter months and long and sunny summers.
Composed by fractured sandstone in the lowest areas, the soil changes its composition along the foothills of Mount Amiata, where the presence of a lava mixture establishes itself, giving the vines minerality and tastiness, distinguishing traits of our wine; it’s from the union of this terroir and the skilful hands of our farmers that grows a sangiovese grape of great value: the Montecucco.
